Academic Policy and Code of Conduct

 

1. Quality and Credibility of Academic Content

All instructional content delivered through the Coatings Academy has undergone structured peer review and approval by recognized industry experts in the coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers (CASE) sector. Modules reflect contemporary technical standards, validated methodologies, and industry best practices to prepare participants for real-world application.

 

2. Commitment to Equity and Inclusive Learning

The Coatings Academy is committed to providing an equitable, inclusive, and respectful learning environment. The platform supports:

  • Asynchronous learning to accommodate different schedules and learning needs.
  • Comprehensive resources, including guides, supplementary materials, and curated industry references.
  • Career readiness, helping participants enter or advance within the CASE industry.

 

3. Module Progression and Assessment Requirements

All modules follow a self-paced learning model. To ensure content mastery:

  • A minimum score of 70% is required to progress to the next module and obtain a certificate.
  • Participants can make multiple attempts on each assessment (quiz, test, or exam).

3.1 Participant Guide Expectations

Each module includes a Participant Guide containing essential technical information, examples, and contextual explanations. Participants are expected to:

  • Review the guide thoroughly.
  • Use it as a reference during the module and assessments.
  • Apply the information to their coursework and industry practice.

3.2 Policy on AI Usage, Academic Integrity, and Plagiarism

The Coatings Academy enforces a zero-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty, including:

  • Unauthorized use of AI tools for generating answers, explanations, or assignments.
  • Plagiarism in any form.
  • Presenting the work or intellectual property of others as one’s own.

Consequences:

  • Automatic failure of the course upon violation.
  • Reinstatement is at the discretion of the Chair of the Coatings Academy.
  • Repeat offenses may result in permanent removal from the program.

 

4. Independent Research Expectations

Participants are encouraged to explore academic institutions, research centers, and universities that maintain CASE-related laboratories or technical programs. This promotes:

  • Deeper engagement with emerging technologies.
  • Professional networking.
  • Enhanced understanding of specialized subject areas.

 

5. Coatings Academy Code of Conduct

The Coatings Academy maintains high expectations for professionalism, academic responsibility, and respectful communication. All participants must adhere to the following Code of Conduct throughout their engagement with the program.

5.1 Professionalism

Participants are expected to demonstrate conduct consistent with professional standards in the CASE industry. This includes:

  • Communicating respectfully with peers, instructors, and staff.
  • Meeting academic obligations honestly and on time (where applicable).
  • Using language and behavior that fosters a positive, collaborative learning environment.
  • Demonstrating integrity, punctuality, and preparedness.
  • Professionalism also extends to digital interactions, including:
  • Thoughtful participation in discussion boards or messaging platforms.
  • Appropriate use of the learning management system.
  • Maintaining a constructive and courteous tone in written communication.

5.2 Academic Stewardship

Academic stewardship involves taking responsibility for one’s own learning and contributing positively to the broader learning community. Participants are expected to:

  • Uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
  • Complete all assessments independently and ethically.
  • Use resources responsibly and only as permitted.
  • Seek clarification when unsure of expectations.

The Coatings Academy maintains an open‑door policy to ensure participants feel supported throughout their academic journey. Participants are encouraged to reach out to Academy staff and instructors for:

  • Reporting technical issues
  • Providing constructive feedback about the program
  • Expressing concerns or requesting accommodations

Severity will be determined based on the nature and frequency of the violation.
